Fire Proof Compliance in Paso Robles, Atascadero, Templeton, San Luis Obispo & Nearby Areas

We can make sure your property is protected from wildfires and compliant with new fire safety codes.

At Progressive Greenery, we understand the importance of creating landscapes that are not only beautiful but also safe and fire-resistant. Fire-safe landscaping is essential to protect your property and ensure the safety of your home and family. Our fire-proof compliance services are designed to reduce fire risk, provide peace of mind, and create a defensible space that meets local fire regulations.

California law requires that homeowners in SRA (State Responsibility Area) clear out flammable materials such as brush or vegetation around their buildings to 100 feet (or the property line) to create a defensible space buffer. This helps halt the progress of an approaching wildfire and keeps firefighters safe while they defend your home.

How do I determine in which Fire Hazard Severity Zone my property is located?

Public Resources Code 4201-4204 directs the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) to map fire hazard within State Responsibility Areas (SRA) based on fuel loading, slope, fire weather, and other relevant factors present, including areas where winds have been identified by the department as a major cause of wildfire spread. These zones, referred to as Fire Hazard Severity Zones (FHSZ), classify a wildland zone as Moderate, High, or Very High fire hazard based on the average hazard across the area included in the zone.

What is AB-38?

AB-38 Defensible Space Inspections and Compliance Reports for Real Estate Transactions in High or Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone

Starting July 1, 2021, the seller of any real property that is in a High or Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ), will need documentation of a compliant Defensible Space Inspection (DSI) if the home was constructed before January 1, 2020.  Please note that the AB-38 provisions are for real estate transaction disclosure and documentation only.

This means that if you plan to sell your home now or in the future, you must first pass a Defensible Space Inspection by CalFire.

Progressive Greenery can make sure you are compliant with all the current laws and codes for your specific area.
